Asparagus alla Paper Bag

Recipe courtesy:
Paula Jones — bell'alimento
www.bellalimento.com

1 lg. brown paper bag from the grocery store
2 bundles of fresh asparagus
1/2 lemon sliced
4 fresh garlic cloves minced (use more if you like)
2-3 bay leaves
salt & pepper
extra virgin olive oil
canola oil

Preheat oven to 400. Take your asparagus and trim the ends (Tip: Hold one asparagus between your fingers and bend it, where it breaks naturally is where you trim it). Place the asparagus in a bowl add the minced garlic, season with salt & pepper (to your liking), drizzle a little olive oil over the asparagus. A couple of turns of the bowl should be plenty (just enough to coat), & toss. Place your seasoned asparagus at the bottom of the paper bag. Place lemon slices & bay leaves on top of asparagus. Fold the bag over & place onto a rimmed baking sheet, pour a little canola oil over the bag & rub in it completely (don't want it to catch on fire), make sure the bag is saturated. Bake for 30 minutes.

I've found the easiest way to open it is to cut the bag open with scissors (be careful it will be hot).
Buon Appetito!
